Swiss player Ricardo Ferreira slapped with 50-YEAR ban for kicking ball at referee's face

An amateur player in Switzerland will have to
wait until he is 78 before being allowed to play
football – after being handed a 50-year ban for
losing his cool and kicking a ball at a referee's
face in a post-match altercation.
Ricardo Ferreira was slapped with the huge
suspension after he was found to have insulted
the official following his team, Portugal FC's 1-0
loss to SC Worb, even though he didn't feature
in the match.
After belting a ball at the referee's face, Swiss
newspaper Blick revealed that Ferreira then
squirted water on the official's face – earning
the player a half-century ban from the
Swiss amateur football league.
Despite admitting that he expected to be
banned from football, Ferreira – who has
previously missed 45 games with suspension
for other incidents – expressed his shock at the
punishment handed to him.
'I had expected one or two years maximum. But
50 years? Football's my life,' he said.
Speaking about the ban given to the 28-year-
old, lawyer to Switzerland's amateur football
league Robert Breiter said: 'We do not want
such a player in our league.
'Unfortunately we encounter such cases about
once a year.'
