Newcastle 1 - Liverpool 0:BRENDAN RODGERS will be ruffling around to find his receipt for Mario Balotelli after this.

Ayoze Perez's 73rd-minute strike was enough for in-form
Newcastle to see off Brendan Rodgers' inconsistent Liverpool
1-0 at St James' Park.
The Spaniard netted the decisive goal in the 2-1 triumph at
Tottenham last Sunday and came off the bench here to earn
Newcastle's fourth win in a row in all competitions and move
them to within a point of Liverpool.
The Premier League's highest scoring fixture - having yielded
129 goals before this meeting - looked set to be heading for a
goalless draw until Perez's strike, which condemned the
visitors to their fourth top-flight defeat of the season.
Both clubs progressed to the League Cup quarter-finals in
midweek, with Newcastle having further alleviated the pressure
on manager Alan Pardew by producing a shock 2-0 victory
over holders Manchester City.
There were two much-changed sides that lined up on Saturday
and Pardew reaped the rewards from having rested several key
players for Wednesday's trip to the Etihad Stadium.
Pardew admitted that the weakened team he named against
City was a nod towards the importance of this fixture, with five
players - Tim Krul, Steven Taylor, Moussa Sissoko, Sammy
Ameobi and Papiss Cisse - returning and Mehdi Abeid earning a
Premier League debut.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers also made numerous changes
from the League Cup success over Swansea City, and Mario
Balotelli was rewarded for his equalising goal off the bench in
that 2-1 triumph as the Italian was handed a start, with Steven
Gerrard and Raheem Sterling coming back into the side.
The hosts had appeals for a penalty waved away by referee
Andre Marriner in the 10th minute when Sissoko went to
ground under a challenge from Joe Allen, with replays
suggesting they had cause to feel aggrieved.
Newcastle suffered a blow midway through the half when
Gabriel Obertan, scorer of the winning goal in his side's last
home match against Leicester City, pulled up while chasing a
long ball down the right, with Rolando Aarons on in his place.
Liverpool survived a scare late in the half when Cisse's goal-
bound shot was headed away by the alert Glen Johnson, while
Martin Skrtel headed Gerrard's corner wide from eight yards at
the other end.
Cisse did not return for the second half as Perez was brought on
to add fresh impetus to Newcastle's attack, with that change
ultimately proving crucial.
Tempers flared around the hour mark, firstly when Sissokho wa
perhaps lucky to avoid a red card for a studs-up foul on Joe
Allen, and then as Daryl Janmaat scythed down Balotelli. Both
men were cautions.
Coutinho saw a header well saved by Tim Krul between those
two incidents, and former Sunderland man Fabio Borini
threatened with a powerful low strike from the edge of the area
two minutes after coming off the bench, but it was Perez who
made the breakthrough.
Sissoko's cross was not dealt with by Alberto Moreno and Perez
was on hand to fire the ball home from close range.
A rapid breakaway almost led to a second when Remy
Cabella and Perez linked well, but the Frenchman's effort was
kept out by the right foot of Simon Mignolet, who had dived the
other way.
Liverpool offered little in the closing stages and, with a trip to
the Santiago Bernabeu to take on European champions Real
Madrid coming up on Tuesday, Rodgers was left with plenty to
ponder

Hull 0 - Southampton 1: VICTOR WANYAMA'S 40-yard strike secured all threepoints for Southampton at Hull as the Saints' wonderful start to the season continued.

Victor Wanyama took advantage of an Eldin Jakupovic error as
Southampton continued their fine run in a 1-0 Premier League
win at Hull City.
Third-choice Hull keeper Jakupovic continued to deputise in the
absence of Allan McGregor and Steve Harper in Saturday's game
at the KC Stadium.
And his mishit clearance after just three minutes fell into the
path of Wanyama, who cleverly guided the ball home from
distance for the only goal of the game.
On balance of play it was a deserved three points for
Southampton, who remain second in the table, as Jakupovic's
opposite number Fraser Forster was rarely tested in his bid to
impress the watching England manager Roy Hodgson.
Hull, who made one change from last week's 0-0 draw at
Liverpool with Paul McShane coming in for Alex Bruce, failed to
stamp their authority on the game and fell to a second home
league defeat of the season.
Wanyama's early strike gave in-form Southampton a perfect
start, and former Hull striker Shane Long - who moved to St
Mary's in August - was a constant threat for the visitors in the
first half.
The second period failed to produce much in terms of
goalmouth action, but Southampton substitute Saido Mane
should have made it 2-0 when he put a gilt-edged opportunity
from inside the six-yard box over the crossbar with 20 minutes
remaining.
However, Wanyama's third Premier League goal of the season
proved enough for Southampton, who have now won 10 of
their last 11 matches in all competitions.
Following the Kenyan's opener, Hull enjoyed a spell of
pressure and Hatem Ben Arfa should have done better when he
stot tamely at Forster from the edge of the box on his favoured
left foot.
But at the other end, Southampton nearly benefitted from
another Jakupovic error.
The Pole hesitated after realising Long would reach a long ball
first and was relieved the ex-Hull man could not direct his
looping header into the goal.
Southampton looked assured in possession after the break as
Hull tried desperately to get a foothold in the game.
The visitors almost had a second in fortuitous circumstances
when Graziano Pelle's acrobatic overhead kick fell kindly for
Steven Davis, who could only half-volley straight at Jakupovic
from close range.
Hull's Mohamed Diame was perhaps lucky to escape
punishment for a crude challenge on the heel of Dusan Tadic.
But Tadic picked himself up and his teasing cross found Mane in
a great position in the penalty area, only for the forward to flick
his shot into the ground and over the crossbar in the 70th
minute.
The hosts had tame shouts for a penalty denied when Robbie
Brady's cross appeared to hit Tadic on the hand, but Steve
Bruce's side rarely threatened the Southampton goal in the
closing stages.
Indeed, it was the visitors who went closes to scoring again, as
Pelle wasted a great chance to round off the win in the 89th
minute when he clipped a shot wide at the near post after a fine
delivery from Mane.
It mattered little, though, as Ronald Koeman's men march on.

Stoke 2 - West Ham 2: WEST HAM'S winning run came to an end - but only after they battled to a point at Stoke.

The Potters had been well in control and deservedly led 2-0
thanks to goals from Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf.
But Stoke boss Mark Hughes was denied the perfect birthday
present as Enner Valencia reduced the deficit on the hour mark
before Stewart Downing equalised with 17 minutes of normal
time remaining.
The result leaves Hughes' side 12th in the Premier League table,
while West Ham have dropped a place to fifth.
Stoke had won their previous two home top-flight matches but
they went in to this one looking to bounce back from
consecutive defeats in league and cup to Southampton.
In West Ham they were facing another side, like the Saints,
exceeding expectations this term and in fine form, Sam
Allardyce's men arriving on a three-game winning streak and
and having taken victories in four of their last five.
Forward Diafra Sakho, scorer of a goal in each of their last seven
fixtures, had been key to those recent exploits but a shoulder
injury meant he failed to make the squad here.
And in his absence, West Ham were on the ropes in the opening
stages as Stoke - missing an important frontman themselves in
the suspended Peter Crouch - started at a high tempo.
Bojan Krkic, retained from the cup tie for his first league start
since September 13, had a shot blocked by Winston Reid early
on and after Moses had lashed over the bar from distance, the
lively Spaniard tried another effort, with James Collins getting in
the way.
Bojan then drilled a dangerous delivery across the face of goal,
with Diouf just unable to apply a finishing touch.
West Ham lost Reid to injury in the 24th minute, James Tomkins
coming on in his place, before carving out their first really
decent goalscoring opportunity as Downing played a neat one-
two with Alex Song, only to blast off-target.
Stoke were soon applying pressure again and just after the half-
hour mark they broke the deadlock as Bojan's shot struck
Collins and Moses scrambled the loose ball over the line.
It was a moment to savour for the winger, recently at the centre
of controversy when he was branded a diving "cheat" by
Swansea boss Garry Monk, as he notched his first goal since
joining the Potters on loan from Chelsea over the summer.

Leicester 0 - West Brom 1: ESTEBAN CAMBIASSO'S second-half own-goal gave WestBrom victory at struggling Leicester.

The hosts were the better side for large spells of the contest but
it was Cambiasso's unfortunate touch off Wes Morgan's header
in the 47th minute that ensured West Brom took home the
bragging rights.
It now means the Foxes haven't won in the Premier League to
five matches - taking just one point.
The Baggies, meanwhile. have now lost only once in six league
matches.
A disappointing performance last weekend prompted Nigel
Pearson to make four changes to the Leicester line-up as leading
scorer Leonardo Ulloa, without a goal or a shot in his last four
matches, was dropped to the bench.
Marcin Wasilewski was among those to come in and he tested
Ben Foster with an early header from Matty James' corner
before the West Brom keeper almost got himself into trouble
when he carried the ball suspiciously close to the edge of the
penalty area.
Saido Berahino looked dangerous with his pacey runs in behind
Leicester's defence and with quarter of an hour gone, the in-
form striker finally beat the hosts' offside trap but his shot was
held by Kasper Schmeichel.
At the other end, referee Stuart Attwell turned down two penalty
appeals in quick succession as Craig Dawson met a Leicester
free-kick with the top of his arm before Joleon Lescott cleared
out both man and ball after Jamie Vardy had latched onto Craig
Gardner's sloppy back-pass.
It was from set-pieces that the home side looked most likely to
break the deadlock.
Morgan flashed a header wide from another James corner and
moments later City's captain was involved again as the ball
dropped to Danny Drinkwater eight yards out but the
midfielder's shot was blocked.
Leicester's encouraging first-half display was almost undone
shortly before the break by a quick West Brom counter-attack as
Stephane Sessegnon slid through Berahino, who teed up Chris
Brunt on his favoured left foot but the winger fired over.

Everton 0 - Swansea 0: Ten man swansea held everton to a goalless draw

Everton failed to score for the first time this season as they were
held to a goalless Premier League draw by Swansea City on
Saturday.
Roberto Martinez's men had managed to find the net in every
league fixture this term before this weekend, but endured a
frustrating 90 minutes against the Spaniard's former club at
Goodison Park.
The Toffees saw clear-cut goalscoring opportunities limited in
the first half despite dominating possession, and could count
themselves lucky not to concede a penalty when Antolin Alcaraz
appeared to handle the ball from a Jonjo Shelvey strike.
Swansea - who picked up their first-ever win over Everton in the
League Cup earlier this season - looked brighter after the break,
but were dealt a blow when Shelvey was given his marching
orders for a second bookable offence with 18 minutes to go.
The hosts failed to test Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski in the
opening 45 minutes despite creating a number of clear cut
chances while Wilfried Bony spurned the best opportunity for
the visitors.
Toffees winger Aiden McGeady nearly opened the scoring in the
second-half with a curled effort while Gylfi Sigurdsson fired over
for Garry Monk's men.
Then the game sprung to life as Jonjo Shelvey received a red
card in the 72nd minute after picking up his second yellow for a
block on James McCarthy.
Everton pushed for a winner but Romelu Lukaku and Steven
Pienaar both missed chances to secure all three points in injury
time.
Martinez's side stay ninth in the Premier League while Swansea
remain sixth.

ARSENAL striker Theo Walcott has thanked the club's fansafter he made his long-awaited return from injury againstBurnley at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

Walcott sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in an FA

returned to Arsene Wenger's first team squad today and was
brought on as an 80th minute substitute as the Gunners ran out
3-0 winners over the Premier League strugglers.
The England international said on Instagram after the game:

Thursday 30 October 2014

CHELSEA are set to welcome back Ramires and Diego costa for this weekend's derby clash with QPR.

The Brazilian has been out since picking up a groin problem in
the Blues' 1-1 draw at Manchester City last month.
Ramires was in contention for a return to the squad for
Chelsea's trip to Manchester United last weekend, but failed to
make Jose Mourninho's 18-man travelling party.
However, he how looks set for a return to action on Saturday,
when Harry Redknapp's Hoops travel to Stamford Bridge.
In another boost, Diego Costa is in line to take his place in the
squad after missing Chelsea's last four matches with a
combination of hamstring and groin injuries and illness.
The Spain striker is the join-leading scorer in the top flight, and
Mourinho will be eager to welcome him back to ease the burden
on veteran striker Didier Drogba.
Fellow frontman Loic Remy is still a few weeks away from a
return after a groin injury, while Cesar Azpilicueta serves the
final game of a three-match ban after being sent off at Crystal
Palace.
Branislav Ivanovic returns after missing the midweek win at
Shrewsbury due to the red card he recevied at Old Trafford last
weekend.

Man united and Arsenal battle for Athletic Bilbao young star Aymeric Laporte.

Spanish sources claim the Premier League duo will meet
Laporte's astronomical £32m buyout clause either in January or
the summer of 2016 - leaving just personal terms to be
negotiated.
The youngster will therefore have to decide between a switch to
either United or Arsenal in the near future.
Both team's have a loose connection with the 20-year-old;
compatriot Arsene Wenger has a very positive record with
young French stars, whilst former team-mate Ander Herrera
could help him acclimatise in Manchester.
It is no secret that both Louis van Gaal and Arsene
Wenger are desperate to improve their defensive options
in January and they appear locked in the battle for the
France Under-21 international.
Having been impressed with the youngster's performances in La
Liga and incredible maturity he is showing, the two sides are
reportedly prepared to match his £32 million release clause in
the January window.
Manchester United will probably try to use summer signing
Ander Herrera in an attempt to persuade his former teammate
to move to Old Trafford, but Arsenal are not without chances.
Aymeric Laporte has been playing at a very high level ever since
he was handed his La Liga debut during the 2012/2013 season
and he has so far amassed 58 league appearances for los
Leones.
Having finally ended the barren run of results by defeating
Almeria, Athletic are 13/10 favourites to see off Sevilla at San
Mames.

Paris Saint-Germain set for FC Porto midfielder yacine brahimi move

Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their interest in FC Porto
midfielder Yacine Brahimi, according to Radio Monte Carlo.
The Saints have been keeping close tabs on the Algerian this
season and they are being linked with a January bid for his
services.
Appearing on L'After Foot show, Radio Monte Carlo journalist
Nicolas Villas revealed that the representatives of Yacine Brahimi
had been in Paris few days ago.
This is enough to suggest that the Saints are seriously thinking
about luring the Algeria international to Parc des Princes in the
upcoming transfer window.
Brahimi, who has just been voted Best African Player in the
2013/2014 La Liga season, joined FC Porto from Granada this
summer and in turn enjoyed a bright start to his career in
Portugal.
The 24-year-old started a total of 12 matches for the Dragons in
all competitions, managing 4 goals and 5 assists in the process.

Bayern Munich join the race for Marco Reus.

Liverpool and Manchester United look set to
face strong competition for the signing of Marco
Reus from German champions Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga giants are said to be keen on
the Borussia Dortmund man, who attracted
attention from several Premier League clubs
over the summer.
Reus is believed to have a £19.7m release
clause in his contract and Bayern chief
executive Karl-Heinz Rumenigge admits the 25-
year-old may be of interest.
'We know in Munich that he has a high quality.
And we know the clause,' he said.
'It is possible that a young German player of
such quality is interesting for us.
'But I don't want to rock the boat in Dortmund.'
Both Man United and Liverpool were linked
with Reus during the summer transfer window
and yesterday Dortmund announced they have
ended talks with the midfielder over a contract
extension, as they look to get their league
season back on track.

Roma 2-0 Cesena: The Giallorossi returned to winning ways with Francesco Totti's deputy playing a key role to help pull them level with Juventus at the top of the league

Mattia Destro made the most of a rare start by scoring the
opening goal as Roma beat Cesena to move level on points with
Juventus at the Serie A summit.
The 23-year-old was drafted in by coach Rudi Garcia, who reste
captain Francesco Totti, and emerged as a key figure, netting
early before Cesena's resistance was ended by Daniele De Rossi
late on.
Roma's win and Juventus' injury-time defeat at Genoa means
the Giallorossi are now level on points with the defending
champions after nine rounds. They also have an identical goal
difference and goals scored tally.
Garcia's men were in desperate need of a win after a 7-1
Champions League hammering by Bayern Munich was followed
by a weekend draw at Sampdoria.
And despite the absence of Totti, Radja Nainggolan and
goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis - all left out by Garcia - the home
side started with purpose.
Vasilis Torosidis saw an early shot blocked with two subsequent
follow-up efforts also bundled clear by the Cesena defence.
It did not take long for Roma to make the breakthrough, though
with Destro capping off a sweeping move to put them ahead
after eight minutes.
Torosidis slipped the ball through for Gervinho and his low cros
was inch-perfect for the forward to tap home from three yards.
The former Siena striker could have trebled his tally by the brea
but had a goal chalked off for offside after meeting Miralem
Pjanic's free-kick with a crisp finish and then saw goalkeeper
Federico Agliardi produce a fine save to deflect his drive past th
post.
The visitors offered little as an attacking threat in the opening 45
minutes and spent much of the second period on the back foot
as well.
Their best chance came after 69 minutes when experienced
Portuguese striker Hugo Almeida found time and space in the
box but could only drag his header wide of goal.
It proved an expensive miss as Roma made sure of the win with
nine minutes to go. A deep corner was headed back across goal
by Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and De Rossi was on hand to turn the
ball home

Genoa 1-0 Juventus:Luca Antonini scored in the dying minutes to give the home side the victory and ensure the visitors'winning run came to an end

Genoa shocked Juventus 1-0 to hand the champions their first
league loss since March and sour Gianluigi Buffon's 500th Serie
A appearance.
Luca Antonini bundled the winner home from six yards in the
94th minute and, with just 20 seconds of stoppage time
remaining, there was no way back for Massimiliano Allegri's
men.
Genoa substitute Alessandro Matri - formerly of Juve - drew the
attention of two defenders and cut-back to the unmarked
Antonini, who saw his unconvincing effort hit the back of the ne
despite the best efforts of the desperate visitors.
It was a cruel way for Buffon's milestone match to end as a tired
Juve lost just their second league match of 2014.
Juve were twice denied by the woodwork on Wednesday, with
Fernando Llorente firing into the base of the left post midway
through the first half.
Defender Angelo Ogbonna lifted over Genoa goalkeeper Mattia
Perin in the 70th minute, but saw his effort hit the post after the
hosts were caught napping at the back.
And those close-calls came back to haunt Juve - playing their
fourth match in 12 days - as Antonini netted a dramatic winner.
Juventus remain top of the league, but second-placed Roma
beat Cesena to join them on 22 points.
Buffon wore a special captain's armband that simply read '500'
for a Juventus side which brought Paul Pogba and Stephan
Lichtsteiner back to the starting line up, while Matri started on
the bench for the hosts - despite scoring in their 2-1 win at
Chievo on Sunday.
After a slow start, Juve - controlling possession - finally turned
the screw in the 22nd minute, as Carlos Tevez cut inside and
forced a good save from Perin when he tried to fire into the
bottom-right corner.
Llorente was next to go close, but shot into the woodwork after
showing good control to shield an opponent.
Tevez and Pogba saw efforts from distance go wide as half-time
approached and the off-target efforts continued after the break,
with Lichtsteiner and Leonardo Bonucci the next culprits.
Buffon made his first save of the night in the 64th minute,
tipping a swerving Giovanni Marchese effort over the bar, while
at the other end, substitute Alvaro Morata played in Tevez - only
for him to smash over from 20 yards.
Ogbonna then had his near miss after he reacted quickest to a
header back into the box, only to see his effort come back off
the post.
Morata forced a tidy stop from Perin from an acute angle in the
84th minute, and the goalkeeper went one better as the final
whistle approached, reacting quickly to excellently tip another
effort from the Spaniard over.
And Perin's saves proved crucial as his side stormed forward in
the dying minutes, with Matri squaring it to Antonini who was
able to knock it home for his first league goal of the season and
give Genoa a famous win.
Juve's first league defeat of the season coupled with Roma's 2-0
win over Cesena on the same night sees the two teams level on
points at the top of the Italian top flight.

Inter 1-0 Sampdoria:The former Blucerchiati striker converted from thespot with just seconds of normal time remaining, after Zdravko Kuzmanovic had been felled in the boxby Alessio Romagnoli

Mauro Icardi converted a last-minute penalty to earn Inter a
crucial 1-0 win over Serie A rivals Sampdoria on Wednesday
night.
The Nerazzurri looked set to be held at home for the third
successive game in all competitions - which would have heaped
further pressure on coach Walter Mazzarri - but Zdravko
Kuzmanovic was felled by Alessio Romagnoli with just seconds
of normal time remaining.
Icardi, who had been repeatedly frustrated by Sergio Romero in
the Sampdoria goal, then stepped up to beat his fellow Argentin
from 12 yards out to send the Giuseppe Meazza wild and end
the visitors' unbeaten start to the season in the process.
Mazzarri had found himself up against one of the reported
favourites to replace him at the helm, in the shape of Sampdori
coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, but he came out on top against the ex-
Nerazzurri defender.
The hosts were wasteful in the first half, with Rodrigo Palacio in
particular spurning several good chances, but they managed to
snatch all three points at the death through Icardi to move to
within a point of third-placed AC Milan.
Daniele Gastaldello was lucky to escape punishment for
elbowing former team-mate Icardi in the face early on, before a
wayward pass in midfield allowed Mateo Kovacic to play the ball
in to Palacio, who inexplicably missed the target from close
range.
Palacio was again guilty of wasting a great opportunity in the
13th minute, as the Argentine latched on to Gary Medel's
incisive through-ball and poked a shot straight at Romero from
12 yards.
Inter continued to dictate the tempo as the first half progressed,
but they found themselves up against an in-form Romero, who
produced an excellent reaction save to keep Icardi's deflected
effort out five minutes before the break.
And they were almost made to pay for their wastefulness in the
final minute of the half, as Alfred Duncan struck the crossbar
after pouncing on a loose ball inside the area.
The start of the second half followed a similar pattern to the firs
as Palacio spurned another opportunity in the 50th minute,
shooting wide from six yards.
Inter's chances were seemingly dealt a blow a few moments
later when Hernanes was forced off with an injury.
Kuzmanovic, the Brazilian's replacement, wasted a glorious
chance with 28 minutes remaining, hitting a tame effort straight
at Romero when through on goal.
But Inter continued to press and salvaged a dramatic late
winner, with Kuzmanovic again central to the action.
He was tripped by Romagnoli when racing through and Icardi
fired the resulting penalty into the right-hand side of the net to
move Inter up to seventh and end Samp's unbeaten start at
eight matches - one game shy of their club record.

Cagliari 1-1 AC Milan:The attacking midfielder netted to cancel out VictorIbarbo's earlier strike as the Rossoneri held the hoststo a draw

AC Milan dropped points for the second game in succession, but
were grateful to Giacomo Bonaventura for rescuing a 1-1 draw
at Cagliari.
Filippo Inzaghi's side - denied victory in Serie A by Fiorentina at
the weekend - were second best for long periods as they
claimed a point at Stadio Sant'Elia on Wednesday.
Zdenek Zeman's Cagliari missed out on a Milan double, having
beaten Inter 4-1 earlier in the season, after Victor Ibarbo's
deserved first-half opener was cancelled out by Bonaventura's
sublime 30-yard lob.
The hosts steadied themselves in the second period and looked
the more likely to win the game as Daniele Conti struck the post
with a well-struck free-kick.
Milan were forced to defend desperately for long stretches, but
remain unbeaten on their travels in Serie A this term,
while Cagliari's wait for a first home success goes on.
The hosts entered the game fresh from a 4-0 thrashing of
Empoli on Saturday, and their excellent start to the game looked
like being rewarded as early as the fourth minute.
Ibarbo had a gaping goal in front of him after Danilo Avelar
squared to take Christian Abbiati out of the game, having
collected Conti's perfect throughball. However, Adil Rami
reacted and produced a sensational sliding block to
somehow keep the scores level.
Ibarbo's pace and power had Milan on the back foot
throughout the opening exchanges and he did make the
breakthrough on 24 minutes.
The Colombian spotted a gap between Rami and Mattia De
Sciglio, and darted into the space to beat Abbiati to Marco Sau's
inviting, clipped cross from the left and head into the net from
eight yards.
The same pair combined for Cagliari eight minutes later with
roles reversed, but this time Abbiati did well to save with his feet
Milan then drew level out of nothing after 34 minutes.
Bonaventura received a throw-in 30 yards from goal under no
pressure at all and had time to spot Alessio Cragno off his line
before executing a perfect curled lob into the top corner,
stunning the stadium into silence.
Despite conceding, the hosts were not to be discouraged and
began the second half in much the same manner as they had th
first.
Conti whipped in a dangerous low cross from the right 10
minutes after the break and only a desperate lunge from Ignazio
Abate took the ball off the toe of an on-rushing Andrea Cossu,
denying a certain goal.
Milan were relying on the frame of the goal to keep them level
three minutes later as Conti thrashed in a free-kick, after Rami
had been turned by Ibarbo, which bounced wide off the post.
Substitute Diego Farias should have won it for Cagliari in the
final minute of regulation time, but fired straight at Abbiati from
seven yards after being picked out by Sau.

Hamburg 1-3 Bayern Munich:The Frenchman netted after earlier strikes fromRobert Lewandowski and David Alaba, thus renderingPierre-Michel Lasogga's late header

Franck Ribery marked his first start since recovering from a
troublesome back problem with a goal as Bayern Munich kicked
off the defence of their DFB-Pokal crown with a comfortable 3-
win at Hamburg.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring just seven minutes int
the game at the Imtech Arena and David Alaba doubled the
visitors' advantage with stunning long-range strike just before
the break.
Ribery then made it 3-0 with a deflected strike 10 minutes after
half-time, rendering Pierre-Michel Lasogga's late header purely
academic.
However, the game ended on a sour note, with a supporter
invading the pitch just before the full-time whistle and striking
Ribery in the face with his scarf.
Victory sees Bayern keep their hopes of a third successive DFB-
Pokal title alive, while Hamburg's attentions will turn to league
survival.
Hamburg made three changes for the contest, but they were let
down by a first-team regular in the seventh minute as Thomas
Muller intercepted a misjudged back pass from defender
Westermann and fed Lewandowski, who found the net at the
second attempt.
The visitors were dominant and Philipp Lahm came close to
doubling Bayern's lead on 43 minutes only to be denied at
point-blank range by Jaroslav Drobny, but the goalkeeper could
do nothing about Alaba's sensational strike a minute later.
Having received a pass from Xabi Alonso, the Austria
international pushed forward unchallenged into the Hamburg
half, before unleashing a swerving 35-yard effort that a wrong-
footed Drobny could not keep out.
Hamburg found themselves three goals behind on 55 minutes a
Ribery found the back of the net.
Juan Bernat raced down the left and played a pass into the
Frenchman's feet. He cut inside two defenders before seeing a
low drive deflect off Djourou on its way in.
Three minutes later it could have been four but the Hamburg
keeper got down well to deny Muller, and Manuel Neuer was
called into action for the first time on 68 minutes when Lasogga
found room 20 yards from goal to hit a powerful effort.
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola rang the changes just after the hour
but the visitors continued to press and Ribery was denied a
stunning second goal in the 73rd minute.
Substitute Sebastian Rode made good ground down the right
and his cross was met by the winger but his technique-laden
volley was brilliantly tipped around the post by the goalkeeper.
Hamburg finally got themselves on the scoresheet with five
minutes remaining as Lasogga met a Rafael van der Vaart cross
at the back post to head beyond Neuer.
The game ended on a sour note as a crowd member ran onto
the pitch and appeared to lash out at Ribery, sparking angry
reactions from players from both sides, and referee Marco Fritz
immediately blew the final whistle after the invader was taken
away.

Cornella 1-4 Real Madrid:The French defender found the net alongside Javier Hernandez and Marcelo as the European champions demolished the minnows

Real Madrid opened their Copa del Rey defence with an
ultimately comfortable 4-1 win over third-tier side Cornella on
Wednesday.
In the first leg of the sides' fourth-round clash, a much-changed
Real side were somewhat laboured in securing victory
at Espanyol's Estadi Cornella-El Prat home, but did enough to
secure a 10th consecutive triumph in all competitions.
Real made hard work of the first half, but were ahead at the
break thanks to two Raphael Varane headers, which sandwiched
a stunning equaliser from Cornella's lone striker Oscar Munoz.
The Liga giants' greater quality shone through after the interval
as Javier Hernandez quickly established a two-goal cushion.
Real's fourth of the game, and 50th of the season, was scored b
Marcelo and ensured a routine win for coach Carlo Ancelotti,
who rested a host of key players including Cristiano Ronaldo,
Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
Cornella's part-timers will have a chance to impress at the
Santiago Bernabeu in the tie's second leg.
The Liga side quickly hit the front as Varane rose unchallenged
to firmly nod home James Rodriguez's inswinging corner.
Though camped firmly in their own half, Cornella found a
response as a long heave out of defence was flicked infield and
Alex Gallar prodded into the path of Munoz, who held off Alvar
Arbeloa's challenge and lashed past Keylor Navas.
Real were struggling to create opportunities as Cornella captain
David Garcia - a dentist by trade - kept his midfield colleagues
well drilled, Isco and Rodriguez routinely drifting in from the
flanks only to find their path blocked.
Yet the visitors retook the lead with 10 minutes to go in the
opening half, Varane again scoring from a corner - this time
delivered by Isco - as Cornella goalkeeper Jose Segovia failed to
get a fist on the ball.
Hernandez settled any remaining nerves five minutes into the
second half, drifting across the 18-yard line before clipping a
low angled shot beyond Segovia's reach and into the corner.
Second-half substitute Marcelo saw a cheeky backheeled effort
saved, but the Brazilian claimed a goal with 20 minutes to go
after following in Isco's parried shot to score from a narrow
angle.
Ancelotti responded by withdrawing stand-in captain Karim
Benzema and Isco. Raul de Tomas was handed a debut in place
of the former, while midfielder Alvaro Medran came on for his
second outing at first-team level.
The youngsters appeared eager to impress, though they could
not force Segovia into action, and the more senior members of
the squad will return looking to keep Real's form up when they
head to Granada in La Liga on Saturday.

Tottenham 2 - Brighton 0: SUPERSUB Erik Lamela got Tottenham out of jail against battling Championship strugglers Brighton last night.

It wasn't quite a rabona, but the Argentina ace broke the
deadlock with a fine goal nine minutes after stepping off the
bench as a half-time substitute.
In-form Harry Kane made it 2-0 to Tottenham after 74 minutes
with a tap-in after Brighton keeper Christian Walton parried
Roberto Soldado's shot into his path.
It was the 21-year-old striker's seventh goal of the season.
Lamela had actually held up the restart but when the chance to
punish Brighton arrived, he made no mistake.
Both teams had been booed off by their own fans after
disappointing results at the weekend and both bosses are men
under pressure.
Mauricio Pochettino and Sami Hyypia questioned the mental
toughness of their players in the run-up to this game and have
bigger things to worry about than this competition.
Brighton have not won a Championship game since August and
made six changes from the team which drew at home to
Rotherham.
Spurs made 10 changes from the side which lost here to
Newcastle, but it was still an expensively-assembled team full of
internationals.
They roared out of the blocks to put the visitors under pressure.
Brighton were barely allowed to draw breath.
Aaron Lennon had a goalbound shot blocked by Rohan Ince and
18-year-old debutant Walton had saves to make from Jan
Vertonghen and Andros Townsend.
When Brighton did spring a rare counter-attack, they looked
dangerous.
Kazenga LuaLua was clean through after the simplest of passes
but let the ball run away from him and wasted the chance by
slicing a horrible volley well wide of the target.
Lennon slid in on a fine Soldado centre at the other end only to
stab it just over the crossbar from eight yards.
Soldado then had a fierce effort saved point-blank by Walton
after Ince had thrown himself into danger to block a shot from
Kane.
Spurs continued to be a danger but Brighton did a great job of
putting their bodies on the line to block shots and close down
space.
Chances were at a premium, with the home side resorting to
shooting from distance, and the home fans got more and more
restless.
Pochettino's mood was not helped when his side were not ready
for the restart – for the second game running.
On Sunday, it was Eric Dier caught napping after reappearing
late from the dressing room. This time referee Mark Clattenburg
had to delay the restart for Lamela to get ready.
Good job Ed Sheeran wasn't playing in London last night or
Clattenburg might not have been so lenient.
There was huge relief when Lamela played a neat one-two with
Soldado and slotted home in the 54th minute before Kane
sealed victory.

Manchester City 0 - Newcastle 2:MANCHESTER CITY suffered a fright night at the EtihadStadium as Alan Pardew’s second-string outfit produced a shock win

Halloween came early for Manuel Pellegrini's flops as the Capital
One Cup holders crashed out following a horror show.
Teenage terror Rolando Aarons put the Magpies on the road to a
famous win with a sixth minute opener.
Substitute Moussa Sissoko then climbed off the bench to add a
second after the break to pile on the pain for the Premier
League champions.
The result was made all the more stunning by the fact Pardew
made a host of changes before kick off and named a weakened
side.
People expected the decision to backfire in his face but it proved
a masterstroke as Pardew saw the pressure on him lift even
more.
Two weeks ago Pardew was facing a full-blown crisis but
somehow his men have secured back-to-back league wins and
now dumped Pellegrini's giants out of the Cup.
But while Pardew's star continues to rise, opposite number
Pellegrini is facing a mini-crisis of his own.

Stoke City 2 Southampton 3: Graziano Pelle scored twice to take southampton into quarter-finals.

Stoke City vs Southampton, Capital One Cup match report –
Southampton's in-form striker Graziano Pelle scores twice to
take Ronald Koeman's side into quarter-finals
This was a remarkable cup tie. Southampton were all but
through – their first half performance had been brilliant and it
merited a two-goal lead. Stoke roared back into contention
scoring twice themselves.
Then with extra time looming – but everyone wanting more –
Peter Crouch, who had only been introduced as a substitute
quarter of an hour before, was issued with a second yellow card.
From the resulting free kick, Southampton found a winner.
Finally, all was settled.

Fulham 2 Derby County 5,Simon Dawkins hits two as Championshipleaders reach last eight

Fulham vs Derby County, Capital One Cup РMoussa Demb̩l̩
puts Fulham 2-0 up, but visitors surge back to send Kit Symons'
side to defeat
Derby County came from two goals down to storm into the
quarter-finals. Moussa Dembélé's first goals for Fulham had fired
the home side into a 2-0 lead shortly before half-time. But Chris
Martin pulled one back before the interval and Fulham
capitulated after the break, as goals by Johnny Russell, Jeff
Hendrick and two from Simon Dawkins sent the Sky Bet
Championship leaders through.
It was the second time Derby have put five past Fulham this
season, although the Cottagers are a different side to the one
sent out by the hapless Felix Magath that day in August.
Revitalised under Kit Symons, the caretaker manager, they had
won five of their last eight games, and despite eight changes to
their line-up they roared into the lead thanks to the teenage
striker Dembélé, as well as some shambolic Derby defending.

MK Dons 1 - Sheffield United 2:SUPER-SUB Michael Higdon dramatically fired NigelClough’s Blades into the quarter-finals with two lategoals.

The Blades were trailing to Benik Afobe's 67th-minute penalty
when referee Roger East pointed to the spot, after Craig Alcock
brought down Dele Alli as he chased a Samir Carruthers pass.
But Clough's boys scored twice in the final four minutes, Higdon
levelling with a powerful header from a Bob Harris delivery.
And the hitman struck again from close range in injury time to
break Dons boss Karl Robinson's heart.
Afobe's love affair with the Capital One Cup continued last night
with a penalty and is the top scorer in this year's competition
with six strikes, including a famous brace in the 4-0 victory over
Manchester United in round two.
Afobe stepped up and confidently put away the spot-kick to give
the Dons the lead.

Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

Substitute Callum Wilson fired Bournemouth in the Capital One
Cup quarter-finals for the first time with a 2-1 win over West
Brom.
The former Coventry City striker raced clear of the Albion
defence with four minutes to play before slotting under
goalkeeper Boaz Myhill to dump the Premier League club out of
the competition.
Eddie Howe's side, flying high in the Championship, dominated
the first half at Dean Court as Bournemouth followed up their
record 8-0 victory at Birmingham City last weekend with
another impressive display to progress past the fourth round.
Eunan O'Kane's 49th-minute strike broke the deadlock,
but Bournemouth had to defend resolutely to keep Albion out.
The introduction of Georgios Samaras eventually paid off for th
visitors as the Greece international's effort deflected in off
Tommy Elphick after 85 minutes.
However, Bournemouth immediately went down the other end
and Wilson netted for the fifth game running to extend Albion
winless streak to four games.
With both teams making 10 changes to their respective sides
from the weekend, it was perhaps unsurprising that the opening
stages were cagey, with only a Yann Kermorgant shot
threatening for the hosts in the opening 10 minutes.
Adam Smith's surging run in the 14th minute created another
chance for the striker, but his low shot was well blocked by a
superbly-timed sliding challenge from Youssouf Mulumbu.
Midfielder Mulumbu almost opened the scoring at the other en
two minutes later on a rare Albion attack, but his effort from th
edge of the penalty area was easily saved by Lee Camp.
Myhill had to be alert after 20 minutes as Junior Stanislas raced
through the middle, although he was unable to get a shot away
and Tokelo Rantie's effort was pushed away by the Albion
goalkeeper.
Brown Ideye was given his first sight of goal just after the half
hour after Sebastian Blanco and Victor Anichebe combined to
play him in, with Camp equal to the Nigerian's weak effort on
goal.
Bournemouth finally got reward for their efforts four minutes
into the second half through O'Kane.
Another surging Stanislas run put the Albion defence on the
back foot and his touch inside was met by the midfielder to
calmly slot home his first goal of the season.
Albion felt they should have been level minutes later when
Ideye's cross appeared to be handled by Elphick inside the
penalty area, but their protests were waved away by referee Pau
Tierney.
Stephane Sessegnon's introduction from the bench almost
brought the visitors back into the game as he fired a 25-yard
shot just off target.
Albion did equalise with five minutes to play, albeit with the aid
of a deflection, as Samaras' shot flicked off Elphick and past
Camp.
The scores were only level for 50 seconds, though, as substitute
Wilson raced clear on the right and found a way past Myhill.
Chris Baird then blazed a header over the crossbar from Saido
Berahino's cross as Albion spurned a late chance to force extra

St. Pauli 0-3 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund progressed to the next round of the DFB-
Pokal in comfortable style as they beat St. Pauli 3-0 on Tuesday.
Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Hannover in the Bundesliga was
Dortmund's fourth consecutive league defeat and their sixth in
nine matches this term - leading coach Jurgen Klopp to
acknowledge the club were in a "critical situation".
However, goals from Ciro Immobile, Marco Reus and Shinji
Kagawa helped Dortmund get back on track at the Millerntor-
Stadion against second-tier St Pauli.
Immobile's close-range finish in the 33rd minute earned
Dortmund the lead their possession warranted, after the Italian
had seen an earlier effort ruled out for offside.
The former Torino man turned provider for Reus shortly before
the interval, putting the visitors firmly in control.
Klopp's men never looked likely to relinquish their advantage
and Kagawa added a third goal with four minutes remaining to
put the result beyond any doubt.
Dortmund threatened down the flanks early on courtesy of
Kagawa and Erik Durm, with the two combining after eight
minutes for the Japan international to fire wide.
The visitors continued to dominate and looked to have opened
the scoring when Immobile turned home Sokratis
Papastathopoulos' cross from the right - only to be ruled
offside.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's strike was tipped wide by Philipp
Tschauner 20 minutes in before Immobile eventually got his
goal.
After some slick interplay down the left, Kevin Grosskreutz's
cross found Kagawa, who turned the ball into Immobile's path
to deservedly put Dortmund ahead.
The hosts enjoyed a brief foray into Dortmund's half when John
Verhoek brought a long ball down inside the opposing area -
only to be crowded out - before Soren Gonther's header was
well saved by Mitch Langerak.
However, Dortmund pulled further clear shortly before the
interval when Immobile cut a cross back for Reus to side-foot
home.
Daube had an effort saved well by Langerak early in the second
half as St Pauli looked to gain a foothold in the tie.
Thomas Meggle's men offered a great deal more than they had
prior to the break but were unable to break down Dortmund's
defence, who coped well with any threat from the home side.
Klopp was able to bring Reus and Mkhitaryan off with plenty of
time to spare before Kagawa added a third, following a dismal
clearance from Tschauner.
The Dortmund boss now turns his attention to Saturday's clash
with champions and Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich at the
Allianz Arena.

Shrewsbury Town 1-2 Chelsea:CHELSEA had a narrow escape after unlucky JermaineGrandison’s own goal squeezed the Blues into the lasteight.

Chelsea overcame Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in the League Cup
fourth round after an incredibly well-fought match against their
lower-league opposition.
After an even first half in which the Blues' attacking midfielders
misfired and the League Two side came the closest to scoring,
Didier Drogba broke the deadlock just after the break.
The Shrews looked to have earned extra time when substitute
Andy Mangan netted with 77 minutes on the clock only
moments after coming on but pressure from Drogba forced an
own goal from Jermaine Grandison four minutes later to seal
the deal.
Jose Mourinho lifted the League Cup trophy twice in his first
spell with Chelsea and named a solid line-up to show that he
clearly means business once more. However, the Premier
League leaders were made to work hard for their place in the
quarter-finals.
Shrewsbury went into the game on the back of four straight
League Two wins and had already beaten Premier League side
Leicester City and two Championship clubs in this competition.
Their confidence and self-belief was evident in an even first
period and the manner of the defeat was ultimately harsh on th
home team.
Mourinho made seven changes to the side that started Sunday's
1-1 draw at Manchester United, with 18-year-old Dane Andreas
Christensen making his debut at right-back. Kurt Zouma and
Nathan Ake were other youngsters called up, while Petr Cech go
the nod in between the posts and Jon Obi Mikel, Mohamed Sala
and Andre Schurrle also came in.
Shrewsbury suffered a setback when James Wesolowski went
down in the warm-up, meaning a late step up for Liam Lawrenc
in midfield.
Cech had to be alert in the opening stages as Nathaniel Knight-
Percival was on target with a far-post header from a corner and
Ake received an early booking for a rash challenge on Bobby
Grant.
With the rain driving down, the underdogs had a penalty appeal
for handball against Drogba turned down from another set-
piece as they more than held their own up to half-time.
Drogba did have the ball in the net at the other end but a flag
was already up for offside and it was a far from comfortable
first period for the visitors.
Chelsea started the second half much more positively, though,
and Schurrle and Salah combined to set up Drogba, who took
full advantage when firing a low volley past Jayson Leutwiler on
48 minutes.
Schurrle then had a 30-yard rocket tipped over the bar, but
Shrewsbury did threaten a response when Jean-Louis Akpa
Akpro's shot deflected just wide.
Leutwiler did well to keep out a fierce Drogba effort as Chelsea
began to dominate proceedings but the visitors were stunned
when Mangan levelled from close range after Grandison
headed down a corner.
Hopes of an upset were soon dashed, though, when substitute
Willian whipped in a cross from the left wing on 81 minutes and
the unfortunate Grandison steered the ball into his own net
under pressure from Drogba.
Akpa Akpro did threaten with a late header but there was to be
no second reprieve for Shrewsbury.

Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren secured a spectacular late
turnaround as Liverpool came from behind to beat Swansea Cit
2-1 in the League Cup fourth round.
Marvin Emnes had given the Swans the lead midway through th
second half when he volleyed home, leading Brendan Rodgers t
summon Balotelli from the bench as the minutes ticked down.
The Italian scored seven minutes after his introduction before
the Croatian defender netted his first Reds goal in stoppage time
to delight Anfield.

Austin brace left QPR off the foot of the table

Charlie Austin powered Rangers to just their second league win
of the season to give under-pressure boss Harry Redknapp a
much-needed lift after a week in the headlines for all the wrong
reasons.
Austin's double lifted QPR off the foot of the table as the west
Londoners tried to put the embarrassing spat between
Redknapp and Taraabt over the midfielder's weight and fitness
behind them.
Sparking the row by accusing Taarabt of being "three stone
overweight" seemed like an attempted distraction technique
from Redknapp after last week's error-ridden 3-2 defeat to
Liverpool.
But after their poor start to the season there could be no hiding
from the cold hard facts – Rangers face a long battle against the
drop unless things improve fast.
Last night's Austin-inspired display was a good start. Though
things are unlikely to get easier with Chelsea and Manchester
City next up.
The former bricklayer, who fired QPR to promotion last season
with 20 goals, gave the Hoops something to build on with his
brace last night which took his tally for this term to four - half of
Rangers's total this season.
The three points meant QPR leapfrogged Burnley who are now
propping up the league.
Meanwhile it was Villa being taunted with chants of "That's why
you're going down" after another desperate defeat and blank in
front of goal.
At this rate they will get relegated. They have now lost five in a
row for the first time in over 13 years, failed to score in any of
them and gone over eight hours without a goal.
Paul Lambert's men are now 15th and the early days of this
season when they were flying high in second are already a
distant memory.
Victory was another welcome boost for Redknapp after a Twitter
show of support from owner Tony Fernandes.
Fernandes said: "Let's get all our players off the injury list which
we haven't and then judge Harry."
Fernandes was also forced to step in and call for calm in
Redknapp and Taarabt's public war of words last week.
What Redknapp, who has five stars out injured, really needed
was his players to do the talking on the pitch.
They did that thanks to clinical Austin in a low-quality clash.
He smashed in his first on the half volley on 17 minutes from
just outside the box after Bobby Zamora chested down a long
ball to his strike partner.
It was a rare moment of quality in a poor first half. Austin
provided the highlight of the second too.
Shortly after sub Junior Hoilett bent a curler against the post,
Eduardo Vargas burst down the right and fizzed in a low cross
which Austin swept home brilliantly first time in the 69th minute
Christian Benteke and Andreas Weimann blew decent headed
chances to draw Villa level in the first half.
But nothing summed up their woes in front of goal more than
their two best chances minutes after Austin doubled QPR's lead.
Benteke and sub Joe Cole got in each other's way as they
combined to make a hash of Matt Lowton's cross.
Then defender Ciaran Clark failed to beat Rob Green from a
couple of yards out even though the ex-England keeper was on
the ground after parrying Tom Cleverley's effort.

Argentina boss Gerardo martino has recall carlos tevez.

Carlos Tevez has been handed a long-awaited international recall
by Argentina coach Gerardo Martino.
The Juventus striker has not played for his country since their
2011 Copa America quarter-final defeat to Uruguay, apparently
due to a personality clash with former boss Alejandro Sabella.
However, Martino – who took over from Sabella after
Argentina's World Cup final loss to Germany in July – said earlier
this month that he would not be averse to bringing Tevez back
into the fold.
Tevez has been in superb form for Juve this season, scoring eight
goals in 10 appearances, and Martino has rewarded the 30-year-
old with a place in his 25-man squad for Argentina's friendlies
against Croatia and Portugal next month.
The Argentina national team revealed Martino's selection on
their official Twitter account, and the squad also includes the
likes of captain Lionel Messi and Manchester United's Angel di
Maria.
Argentina take on Croatia at West Ham's Upton Park ground on
November 12, before their clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's
Portugal at Old Trafford six days later.

Bojan Krkic set for Stoke exit

Spanish forward Bojan Krkic could be leaving Stoke City in the
upcoming transfer window, according to The Sun.
The former Barcelona starlet arrived at Britannia Stadium as a
marquee signing this summer, but despite impressing in pre-
season, he has seen very little playing time this term.
Krkic made just four Premier League appearances this season
and last played for the Potters on 4th October.
The 24-year-old was reportedly very unhappy at being left on
the bench during the 2-1 win over Swansea and he in turn threw
his boots across the dressing room in a moment of anger.
Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is not prepared to tolerate
such a behaviour and he is ready to cash in on Krkic in the
January transfer window.
Bojan Krkic has so far failed to live up to his potential, having
largely struggled for regular playing time ever since he last
played for Barcelona three years ago.

PSG ready a new bid for Alexandre lacazette

French media outlet Le 10 Sport has suggested that Paris Saint-
Germain are readying a new bid for Lyon star Alexandre
Lacazette.
With Edinson Cavani reportedly unhappy at Parc des Princes,
the Saints are on the lookout for his replacement and les Gones
hotshot appears to be the first name on their wish list.
PSG officials have been largely impressed with Lacazette's
performances over the last year or so and they are expected to
submit an official proposal either in January or in the summer.
Lyon will obviously give their best to keep hold of their star
player, but chairman Jean-Michel Aulas would have problems
rejecting a big money bid given club's poor financial situation.
After bagging 15 goals in 36 league outings last term, Lacazatte
has already scored 8 league goals this season.

Steve Nash out for the season with a back injury that could cost him his career.

Steve Nash was the best shooter on the Los Angeles Lakers as of this morning.  Now he's gone, out for the season with a back injury that could very well end his career. As though new coach Byron Scott needed a new reason to avoid three-pointers.  Nash, 40, certainly wasn't being counted on by a Lakers team that seems be lottery-bound again. He has played 65 games over the past two seasons with various injuries, the end result of 1,217 NBA games and 38,069 NBA minutes over 18 seasons.
