Real Madrid 5-1 Elche:

The Portuguese gave away a penalty but, after Gareth Bale's equaliser, the Ballon
d'Or holder then went on the rampage at the Santiago Bernabeu
Cristiano Ronaldo struck four times as Real Madrid maintained their remarkable
resurgence with a 5-1 victory over Elche at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday
evening.
The Portugal international was actually responsible for the visitors taking a shock
lead, giving away a penalty 15 minutes in that was converted by Edu Albacar.
However, after Gareth Bale had nodded Madrid level, Ronaldo slammed home a spot-
kick of his own to put the hosts ahead and then his side's lead with a towering
header just before the break.
The Ballon d'Or holder was not finished there, though, scoring another penalty in the
second half before netting again in injury time to make it nine goals in five Liga
games.
