Liverpool's Glen Johnson set for transfer after admitting contract talks have ground to a halt :The England defender is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to begin negotiating with Juventus and other suitors from January

Glen Johnson says contract talks have stalled Glen Johnson looks likely to leave Liverpool after revealing contract talks have hit a brick wall.  The England defender, who will be a free agent in the summer, is refusing to accept a new deal that involves a substantial pay cut.  Juventus are keen on Johnson and he will be free to negotiate with the Italian champions and other interested foreign clubs in January.  The Reds want the former Chelsea player to agree to a much lower salary than the £110,000-a-week deal he signed when joining from Portsmouth in 2010.
Kop boss Brendan Rodgers has already made plans to replace Johnson if he does go.  He has Jon Flanagan and Javier Manquillo as alternative right-backs, while Alberto Moreno is now the club's first choice at left-back - where Johnson has also featured in the past.  Johnson returned from his thigh injury as a sub during the weekend's 2-1 victory over West Brom.  Asked if contract discussions had gone quiet, he replied: “Like you said - very quiet.”
